highest level of achievement and grade G for the lowest
GCE AS ( Advanced Subsidiary ) and A Level ( Advanced ) (class
11 & 12)
This is probably the most prestigious pre-university
qualification that a student can get. For over 50 years, A
Levels have been accepted for entry to universities and
institutes of higher education around the world. Cambridge
International A Levels incorporate the best of the UK A Levels,
but are designed to meet the needs of international students.
Students can study those more specialized combinations of
subjects required by engineering and medical colleges.
AS represents the first half of an A Level course - the second
half is usually referred to as ‘A2’
AS Levels allow students to
Take the AS Level as either a one or two year course in
addition to full A Levels in other subjects
What are A and AS Level courses like?
All syllabuses require students to develop problem-solving and
analytical skills and the ability to apply knowledge. Studying
for A and AS Levels is academically challenging, but offers
excellent preparation for the next stage of education - study at
university or college

Biology, Accounting, Computing, Literature in English, Art &
Design, Law, Psychology, Sociology and a variety of Indian

Number of subjects Needed
This depends on where they are going next. The UK universities
require two or three A level passes.
Students in Mauritius study three A Level subjects and two AS
Level subjects, simultaneously.
We would recommend that a student studies three A Level subjects
simultaneously and might also take one or two AS level subjects.
Benefits
Good A and AS Level grades are a key to admission to the world’s
best universities and colleges
Good grades at A Level can result in up to one full year of
advanced standing or credit at universities in the USA and
Canada and they often gain substantial scholarships.
